It is no secret that the Bing vs Google war is holding strong. This is the first time in history that we have heard colleagues state that they prefer Bing searching to Googling … OK? Regardless, Google proceeds their plight to become a social search engine (Google Caffeine) and we eagerly follow along. While browsing Google for specific keywords and Google Caffeine changes, keep an eye out for a discrete line of text with links that reads: “Results from people in your social circle for seo marketing – BETA – My social circle – My social content and the profiles featured below this information. They leads to the applicable Google Profiles for the keywords. This feature clearly states that “My Social Circle” / “My Social Content” is in BETA … “. This Google Profile connects to the new Google Buzz (social platform) and works similarly to your profile page on Facebook or other social network. Join us at https://profiles.google.com/almcsolutions/about after you’ve finished setting up your Google Profile. We look forward to networking with you!

January 2010 Video Marketing Example – 10 year Old Michael Jackson Impersonator

This is a perfect example of how a simple YouTube video can take your business viral in an extremely short amount of time. In this case, we have a 10 year old Michael Jackson Impersonator that decided to make a video for the 2010 New Year. It is not a professional video; it’s a simple home video made by a child. The recording was impromptu. It is an excellent Michael Jackson Impersonation, though we are sure there are professional ones circulating the Internet … the fact of the matter is that it worked for his strategy. He wanted to become popular on Youtube in a short amount of time and “position” for some other goals that he has in mind in the 2010 New Year. In less than a day, this video received around 400 hits organically and then Youtube stopped the tracking to make sure the its were valid. Within a week, this Billie Jean video had 1000 hits and around 20 comments.

NOTE: By January 2011 this video had almost 30,000 views and 80-ish comments. Great job little MJ Impersonator

As if our favorite search engine isn’t already “the cats meow” for creating Google Caffeine, Webmaster Tools and Analytics, now Google really want to spoil us … Shortly after Matt Cutt’s explained Google Caffeine in more detail, there was another announcement that was just exciting regarding their new Google Chromium OS. This new operating system will become available mid 2010 and the pricing comparable to other similar products. This is exciting news for Chrome browser users, though we are also scratching our heads. Google obviously surpassed Microsoft Bing’s technology in just the few days that the Caffeine search engine has been active. Can they make a better operating system than Microsoft, Linux, Mac OS and the others? Well, Google Chrome OS is not exactly the same type of operating system. It will come loaded on Acer, Asus, Dell, Lenove, Hewlett Packard and other netbooks, though we will not have the ability to install it on our own computers … This Google video explains the difference between Google Chrome Browser and Google Chromium Operating System.

One of the greatest features of WordPress is that we can attach the stand alone blogs (self hosted) to our WordPress.com accounts. This provides such ease when wanting to add new plugins, designs and keep everything up to date. The problem is that when we see the yellow message to upgrade to WordPress 2.9, most do not know that it is not necessary to immediately upgrade to a new version. In fact, it is sometime better to wait a while before upgrading to a new WordPress version until you check what others are experiencing and reporting as problems. This is especially true with upgrades that have glitches like WordPress 2.9. The following are the WordPress 2.9 Problems Reported & How To Fix The Glitches 1) Some cannot add tags. 2) RSS feed warning, “could not converted to UTF-8″. 3) “Fatal error: Call to undefined function:” … “destruct()” 4) Not being able to add new posts. 5) Trackback & Ping Issues per blazingminds.co.uk 6) Not able to …

* We are sorry but this WordPress blog post was corrupted and we could only restore to this point.

Need to understand how the SERPS (Search Engine Results Pages) work?

Go to Google and type in a keyword or search phrase that your customer would use to find your website. If you typed in a competitive keyword or keyword phrase, then you will see 1 to 3 shaded links at the top of the page. These are PAID listings called Pay Per Click (PPC). They are exactly as their name states. The advertiser pays each time a browser clicks on their listing. If you see 1 to 10 listings on the right hand side of the page, those are also PAID listings / Pay Per Click. Again, the advertiser pays each time a unique visitor clicks on those listings. They are on the right hand side of the page because they do not pay as much per click as those 3 websites at the top of the search engine page. If you placed a search using a keyword or keyword phrase that the search engine considers “competitive”, then you will see a map with 1 to 10 listings. These Local Listings could result on this map using a free (organic) or paid (SEM) SEO processes. This is a nice place to have a listing, though is geo targeted. After all of this, you will see 10 links and descriptions below the 3 PPC and / or the Local Map.

These are the organic search engine results.

There are only 10 on each search engine results page. NOTES: Paid listings are part of the “SEM” and not Organic SEO because people pay for the listings. They are called Pay Per Click (PPC). Organic listings or natural seo listings are unpaid. They rank per website code, creative and intelligent SEO marketing process. Google is the #1 search engine in the world. It is extremely important to have map listings and natural SEO listings on Google. In fact, you want to be in the “hot zone” which are the top 5 organic listings on the first search engine results page. Since there are only 10 organic listings per SERP, top rankings are not always easy to obtain. This is why people gravitate to SEM (Search Engine Marketing) and paying for advertisements, contextual listing, etc.

Excellent Organic SEO will avoid SEM expenses and get you to the top of the SERPs.

No matter what part of the world … No matter what industries you claim as your target markets … No matter how effective your SEO or SMM …

When it all comes down to it, the main commodity is not necessarily the marketing service itself, but the list building that we do. As the old saying goes, ”the money is in the list” and this remains true through the different generations of Internet Marketing. It does not matter whether you are using Aweber, Blogs, Social Networks, CMS, Viral Campaigns or other methods, list building is an essential part of your online marketing process. If you are not attracting an audience and converting them into subscribers, the Internet cannot be as effective as you need for your business. This applies equally for those who rent or buy marketing lists opposed to generating their own. If the list was not developed correctly, then you have wasted money and time … this is something that every online marketer should know!

Twitter is the ultimate “list builder” and social platform. Although their target market is the social user, Twitter has obviously been an increasingly valuable business marketing resource for in our virtual world. It is awesome for online marketing and list building if you know what you’re doing. Their new Twitter Lists feature has a lot of potential for preliminary targeting, filtering and transitioning these lists of Tweeple to your other resources. The downfall is that others have access to your list and if you are not shrewed about how you handle your lists, someone could actually tweet their way on in to your followers lists. Yet, this is how social networks work and the wonder of viral marketing through social platforms.

We are interested to know if you are using Twitter Lists to extend your reach and if this has been complimentary to your business list building?
